Red Book

Red Book is the "popular" name of ISO/IEC 60908, Philips' and Sony's standard specification on Audio CDs. It was created in 1980.

Several other books were created after Red Book to accomodate other uses for the CD media: Yellow Book (CD-ROM and CD-ROM XA), White Book (Video CD), Blue Book (Enhanced CD/CD Extra) and Orange Book (CD-R, CD-RW)
